Trainer Brett Bellamy says wide barrier a positive for Jakuta at Taree

When Jakuta drew barrier nine of 10 in the fourth race at Taree on Monday his trainer actually got a little extra confidence about his winning chances.

Brett Bellamy thinks his seven-year-old will be able to get into a better rhythm and have more of a chance of winning than he did last start when coming out of barrier four.

“He’s been racing well and I’d prefer to be drawn where he is,” Bellamy said.

“The other day he drew a good gate and couldn’t find daylight. I think he’s still looking for a way out.

“From the wider gate he can get out and roll forward like he did two runs back and he’ll be hard to run down after being stiff the other day.”
