Happy Valley preview and tips: Thursday, April 8

Hong Kong racing is at Happy Valley for a rare Thursday night meeting and there are nine races on the program.

Happy Valley preview

We open up with a Class 5 over the 1650m and not too many of these have set the world on fire in recent times. SHANGHAI POWER (10) has some form that is better than it reads and has finished 6th at his past two, beaten two lengths. The four-year-old copped a bit of a check before they cornered last time and lacked the dash but might be better suited out to the trip, while Zac Purton rides. HAPPY ICHIBAN (1) steps out for the first time since January and was ok first up in a Class 4 last November, running 6th behind Best For You. He will find this easier….
