The Galleywood was a race that escaped him as a jockey, but Brett Scott now has a win in the famous Warrnambool hurdle race to his name as a trainer after The Statesman claimed the $150,000 feature on Wednesday. 

It was a tremendous result for the former champion jumps jockey now trainer, who has been on the road to recovery after suffering a serious head injury in March after being kicked by a horse.

He was placed in an induced coma following the incident, having suffered skull fractures and a bleed on the brain.
